Well here I am once again writing a blog, I know it's been a god long time since my last one. Finally I'm down in Sonoma Cali with family and of course there teeny weeny dog, who by size looks innocent but on the flip side can clear a room when he has gas.
Despite being in Wine Country (Napa is just next door) this pup loves to hide under blankets, coats, pillows and such and feels like an over active heater whenever touched. You have just got to love him though.
Well there's no games to chat about or tech to review, I've been slacking as you all well know by now but I'll try to update people when I get the mood to do so.

March 29, 07 Back to Age of Empires DS

**I've spoken up about this game before in prior blogs on prior sites however I'm not able to (or just to lazy to) find my old blog about this game so I'll give you a quick recap about it.
**Age of Empires for the DS takes a live action game based on domination into a turn based on, with success. With one drawback, glitches.
**The glitch? The game locks up, dumps your saved data, can't use the "Save and Quit" feature successfully. Oh all these problems are known to the Designer's and there "looking into it" on there forums, however if you really read ALL OF THE FORUMS you will notice gaps in the postings. These deleted post's are really people stating what the hell is wrong with the game, and here's the fix.

1. Use more then 3 digits for your profile name, longer the better in fact.
2. NEVER use the "Save and Quit" option in the game.
3. Save your game only using the "Save" feature at varous points in the game.
4. When you are done playing, "Save" your game and turn off the DS manually.

**With those four steps you can save yourself alot of swearing and bitching. Sadly this is really a great game that I find myself coming back to again and again. If you can live following these four steps your will be rewarded with a really great game, dispite it's glitches.

March 26, 07 KBTC, PBS channel.

**Ok I know it's been awhile but hey, I got back into playing World of Warcraft again and it sucks up the time. So here's my rant now.
**Around here the local PBS station has a special marathon of the old Dr. Who episodes which everyone goes to watch on. It's a fan/cult thing really. Kicking back and watching the old series, laughing your butt off and enjoying the old shows for what they were. But not anymore.
**For some damn reason KBTC thinks that their viewing audience, who coughs up 15k every six months in donations just for Dr. Who wants to watch the "new" episodes. You know the ones, around here you can watch them on CBC Canada ch. 99, BBC America ch. 162 and of course SciFi channel ch. 59.
**Honestly, why in the hell would I want to donate money to a PBS station to watch what has already been on cable 20 plus times per episode? Pulling off the old episodes has not just pissed me off but other's who have donated the cash to WATCH them in the first place.
**People have commenting on the down slide of KBTC and honestly I have to fully agree now, the first clue was seeing KCPQ ch 13 doing weather reports on the PBS channel. Not really what I wanted to see. Well KBTC likes to say that we are lucky to have two PBS stations in our area (KCTS ch. 9 being the other one) however if your gonna show shit on your station, well expect shit for your donations.

March 15, 07 Ceedo, overpriced

**For those of you who know me, you already know that I do a great deal of my Internet Surfing and Chat from my USB Flash Drive. Ceedo is another product which places these programs an in easy to use "User Interface", much like U3 (which is hardware related) and Portable Apps (which is FREE Software related).
**Here's the big difference with the three of them.
-U3, Hardware that comes on a USB Flash Drive.
-Ceedo, Software Program that you buy for 34 bucks and use on your USB Flash Drive.
-Portable Apps, Free Program that you use on your USB Flash Drive.
**So far I've used Portable Apps and I love it, very easy to install, use, add programs, find new ones, etc. Tried out Ceedo and well it's not so easy to use, installing it took a few minutes too long for my liking and I couldn't add other programs to it like I could Portable Apps. Seems that all the programs you can use on it need to be first downloaded from there website, Firefox which I use all the time took 8x longer to install on Ceedo then on any other USB Flash Drive.
**Overall I would suggest skipping the purchase of Ceedo, it's too much for something you can get for Free and even get a better deal, other programs you can use on Ceedo can cost you even more then the app itself. Do yourself a favor and check out Portable Apps, you will love it.

March 09, 07 Friday night blues

**Another SciFi Friday is here and sadly there's not a damn thing on SciFi that I or any of my friends care about to watch. Ever since they shit canned the two shows (Sorry, actually NBC cancelled the shows since they own SciFi channel) and moved Battlestar Galactica to Sunday there's no reason left to really watch em. Dr. Who you may say to me is on SciFi channel, true. It's also on BBC America and CBC Canada, so why waste my time with SciFi.
**I've put the lil yellow birdie on double duty to find new shows to watch and so far it's BBC America and random shows that they have on, most are worth watching but it's a hard thing to follow such a winning line up that I used to watch.
**That's it for now, I'll hit you all up next time on what Laptop PC's I've been looking at and which one I'll end up getting later on (hopefully). lol

March 03, 07 Directions to here
**Well I've given directions on my old blog today for people I know who did actually read it on my old server. Hopefully they will stop by here and make my decision to move a more comfortable one.
** In time to come there's bound to be better stuff to chat about here then just moving my blog and of course, bringing over some of the prior post's I've done in the past as well. Who knows I may even talk about some really interesting stuff again on here, lol.
**I've gotten back into playing WoW lately (World of Warcraft), got a new Guild up and running and so far I have some really good players on it. I personally have no limits on the Guild so much as who can join, but I do keep it decent chat wise, no being down right mean to people and if your just a casual all round good person you will go up in ranks.
**Off the beaten track here, found a good deal on Phillips energy Saving Marathon Bulbs at Costco, $11.95 for 8 (13w replacement for 60w), where other places want $6-$8 a pop. Well for now I'm gonna bolt, check a few things out and maybe, just maybe have something worth while next time to say, lol.

Nov 21,06 "Finally an APP for us all"

Well finally someone has put out a USB Flash Drive UI Suite that you don't have to pay $39.99 for. PortableApps Suite 1.0 is from the makers of Firefox aka Mozilla, a fully functional spyware clean and the all important FREE aspect.
In the past I've searched all over the web for varous USB Flash Drive UI (User Interface) for my sticks and have come up with just a hand full, sadly if there not hardware related (speaking of the U3 app, found on varous USB Flash Drives) they are pay related. Todate I and many others have been using PStart which is a great APP to have however it can be a serous butt to get to work or even to set up for most people.
Now the suggest time for installation is 15+ minutes, granted that does depend on what you have for a pc, what the USB Flash Drive is (maker wise), but the two install's I did varied greatly. The first one took only 10 minutes to install, not bad at all. The second one took a whoping 72 minutes to install (don't believe what you read on the outside of the package, this one came with "Fast Transfer Speeds").
Once installed like every program or APP it takes a bit to figure out how it all works, what can be done and what it's shortcomings are. I'm glad to say the only short coming I've ran across is being able to place what you want up on the UI itself, however this is a small complaint considering it allows you todo so much.
Installations of programs onto your USB Flash Drive can now be done with the UI itself, APPs can be launched from it's UI as well and Documents/Video's/Pictures and so forth.
With a price tag of FREE how can you not give it a spin, after all there's no registration to be done, just a simple download and installation. Have fun with this people and remember to have fun. Cya later

Nov 04, 06 "Wanted: Classic Badguys"

Awww, The Cybermen. When it comes to villiany you have to play The Cybermen on the top five in the Dr. Who Universe. Who else could be so lovable in there killing ways, who else would only die in a 24k way, The Cybermen that's who.
With the new Dr. Who well in it's second season now we have seen the return of the Daleks and now The Cybermen, who can complain. He in Western Washington we are treated with the new Dr. Who on the SciFi Channel, CBC Canada and BBC America. Also to boot with KBTC showing the episodes of the classic Dr. Who (3rd Dr.) on Saturdays good television is abound. lol
With the new show brings new looks for both Daleks and Cybermen alike and in my view a very good enchanced up todate look to both. Over the years the Cybermen have looked at worst, guys dressed up in tin foil and garbage bags, even the Daleks looked like they had toilet plungers for a weapon.
If you haven't seen either then it's about time you do, soon the new Dr. Who will not be alone with the spin off series "Torchwood" scheduled in to air in Oct (were I have no idea), causing even more time to be wasted on tv watching the good stuff. Well that's all for my random ramblings and I hope you get the chance to catch the good Dr. After all it's not the special effects that make a good show, it's how much enjoyment it can bring to the viewer.

Has it really been 1 months since I've last been here? Funny how time flys when your engaged in living.
Since my last taunt at everyone in my blog i've discovered new tech, new ideas and of course new ways of enjoying coffee. lol
First off if your a new user of the USB Flash Drives you quickly come up with this over riding thought, "what else can I do?". Well what I can say is alot. Here is a short list of programs you can use on a USB Flash Drive with little knowledge of computers. Encryption, Firewall, Anti-Virus, Diagnostic, Scanners, Spyware/Adware, Email, Internet Browers, Spreadsheets, Word Processors, Games, Audio/Video editing, Photo editing, Instant Messaging, Back up copies, the list goes on.
Now of course U3 compatable USB Flash Drives are being found everywhere, what are they? Flahs Drives with software related hardware on the Drives, able to auto lauch a wide array of programs on it's own, including an every increasing amount of programs becoming aviable for use.
Many programs for the USB Flash Drives are freeware and not the kind you can use for 30 days, but entirely free! Some may require a registration for it, no real secrective info required and no Credit Card numbers either.
So inclosing here's a list of varous sites that can help you understand what all this is, how to smarty buy and even more so where and what you can use on em. Take care all and if I am not back in time. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Sept 18, 2006 "Comodo Firewall"

Today we are talking Firewalls, have one? For those of us who do use Firewalls a good portion of those are store bought one (Zone Alarm as such) or they are chopped down versions of full versions of there paid cousin (once again Zone Alarm has this too).
The sad truth is too many of us use free versions of programs that we really need to have but just can't afford them, then there's Comodo Firewall (http://www.comodogroup.com/). Comodo Firewall is a fully functional Firewall that straight out from install runs on a higher security level them most other Firewalls. One main problem with many programs is that people don't know how to or understand how to increase there sercurity levels properly, here Comodo does that for you.
With a baseline of knowledgable presets to let known programs run automatically and a Learning setting to let user's allow,deny and/or report suspicous activity. If your not convinced also do what I suggest, check it out for yourself. Read reviews on varous websites and do some research, a little knowledge can go a long ways.
The cost of this fully functioning Firewall is... free registration, that's it.

Sept15, 2006 "Avast!"

Can't afford the expensive catch all Antivirus programs? Unable to find good free ones? Well today I am passing along some of those today. The first one up is Avast! antivirus (http://avast.com/) a good decent and yet FREE antivirus program, not the ones that will scan your PC and then ask you to pay for the fix, this is a fully working program. The next one is Grisoft's free version of AVG Anit-Virus (http://www.grisoft.com/doc/1). A working antivirus program with email shield toboot. This one will do the job also. Both AVG and Avast! have varous features that make them both good enough to own together. Lastly this one is not a program at all but a website (http://snapfiles.com/) full of Freeware and Sharware. Make sure you use the tabs to select which on you wish to look through. There are several great programs to be found there for just about every need and this site has two rating systems. One from the website and one from user reviews, so check em out and good luck all. Catch you all later.

Sept 07, 2006"Another Game Down"

Well I snagged this game on the run one day because well, I like Star Trek. First off yes it's a bit dated however if you can over look this small detail you will find a game this is fun, challanging (if you go higher then easy setting) and at least has the original cast memebers once again in there roles of the Voyager crew (Jeri Ryan's voice installed with the patch).
You will being playing the role of either a male or female crew member who is part of the new formed Elite Force, a higher trained, better equiped away team member. From starting off in a training sim you are then moved onto combat through cut scene and mission briefings you will have to move through parts of the ship to get your squad ready and weapons equiped.
Personally I enjoyed this game and it did recieve a 8/10 at IGN.COM, however it's short. Not in stature but in length. I finished it in under 8 hours which actually came to somewhat of a shock because after the final boss battle I felt there was supposed to be more.
There is an Expansion out for this however the reviews say it's extremly short, just how short I don't know but if I ever see the Expanion at the store I will let you all know. Purchase of this game is advisable distpite it's "shortage".

Well I have come back now armed with more magical protection then before. LOL It's been several months since I have last been here and few of you know why that is. Since my last trip to fairyland aka Yahoo I've done alot of work (which we all do), game playing (not enough of us do) and some down to Earth playing about with unarmed minds. As of late I've been going back and replaying some of the Final Fantasy games that I have enjoying them for what they are and understanding that not every game needs to be cutting edge graphics to be fun. Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced for the Gameboy Advacned is one that is good graphics, plenty of game play and a serously large amounts of items and spells mixed with many player character professions. Anyone who has a Gameboy Advanced / SP should pick this one up, it maybe a few years old but it's still a great game to own and play. So that's it all, I'll catch you later and let you know more as I do more. lol

Dec 30, 06 "Final Fantasy I&II Dawn of Souls"

Well I am currently on the hunt for the missing Final Fantasy games that I don't own. Today I picked up Dawn of Souls for the GBA.
Old school graphics and sounds, but hell if you love the series then you know I'm gonna love this one, lol.
Currently I am hunting down Final Fantasy III and although it just came out this past November it has already sold out everywhere and is on back order too boot. Also on the trail of picking up Final Fantasy VII for the Playstation, I already have it on the PC but it's just not the same as the original Playstation one. Currently an unopened copy can go for and up to $199.00 so buying used or a cheap new copy is my goal.

Dec 28, 06 "Final Fantasy XII"

Well I've been playing Final Fantasy XII since Christmas and I gotta tell you, WOW. Talk about another great looking game from Square Enix. You have got to really hand it to these guys, great graphics, gorgeous environments, solid combat system (which is new to the FF series), indepth character growth.
If you are new to the Final Fantasy series of games and you get this one well you won't be disappointed at all. FF is well known among gamers to be a game that takes more then a few sittings to finish, we are taking an easy 100 plus hours of play time here, more if you go about and explore everything that there is to offer.
Well I could ramble on forever about any of the Final Fantasy games, but I will say this, buy it and you shall love it.

SPIKE TV here in Washington on Comcast ch. 57 is showing Star Trek Voyager from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. everyday this week, enough to choke any fan all the way to Christmas Morning. So for anyone who is lucky enough to get SPIKE congratulations, we are in fine shape for some much needed Star Trek shows. lol

Even when I cruise the web I have Christmas Cheer visable. I have Christmas snow falling down over the top part of my web browers, Christmas lights for a bar, even Christmas bulbs as favorite list's, hehe. Firefox is one easliy configured web browers with tons of options, such as this Christmas Theme (X-Mas 1.12) I am using up in the pic. So cheer up what you can when you can and once again have a Merry Christmas everyone!

Another day closer to Christmas day and it's always better to be with those you love. If you can't be with them in person it's not too late to send a gift or even a card through the mail. If you can't afford that well you can always drop em an email and maybe even send em a happy picture too. There's plenty of sites on the web to send they a Merry Christmas card via there email.
No matter how you do it, let those you care about know how you feel. Even a little "hello" can be heart warming.

Dec 11,06 "Dog Tired"

With all the running around so many people do each year it's easy to get worn out and all puckered out. Long lines at the stores for present buying, long lines at the gas station's, even long lines at your local hang outs with the coming of Christmas.
When you really think about it you may find it rather strange, after all we all know that this day is coming. It happens every December and oddly enough on the same day, so why were you not ready sooner? Perhaps you waited till the last minute, maybe waiting for that one paycheck to pay for it all.
We all have excuse's to why we wait so long, each as valid as the next. One thing remains, every Christmas morning there comes a peace over us, all the shoping is done, all the packages opened. No more rushing about, no more lines to wait in. Now all that is left is to sit back, relax and enjoy.

Some of us out in the great world of ours have USB sticks or otherwise known as USB Flash Drives. Some are on keychains, some in pockets even a few dangaling from around your neck. No matter where we keep em there's always a chance that we had something better to store or even carry them in.

It's been over a year now that I've been dropping by once in a while to leave a bits of wondering thoughts here in this blog. Through Christmas trees and summer screams much has been siad and even more avoided. This time around I'll mention that if you live in the Seattle area and it's "Radio" range WARM 106.9 plays Christmas music throughout the month or if you have Comcast Cable here you can try Ch. 978 for the Radio station also.
Don't forget to loock for those Christmas shows either, FAMP, ABC and AMCP all have em posted from the silly cartoons to the classic movies just for this time of year.
The biggest source of Holiday Cheer comes from you and those around you. Let the meaningless arugements pass you by and be more kind to others near. Try not to think of all the sadder parts of life during this time of year as so many do. Do you see a long lonely road in the picture above or a trail filled with a beautifully snow covered trees awaiting you and your friends to walk amoung the slendor of the sights and sounds of the seasons?

Well I have finally done it, finished Lego Star Wars on the PS2. I've gone through the whole story line and finished it, I've collected all the Canister's from every level, snagged every bit of Studs needed and even got good old Darth out of the question marked door to write down LEGO out of blocks, WOOT WOOT. Huh, what's this? You say Lego has a second game out already, Lego Star Wars II The Original Trilogy, hmmmmm. "beep, beep beep, beep beep beep beep, Hello EBGames, I'd like to order .........." Only for the in crowd

For those of us who are into the odd or new, this has got to be the next flashy thing to have on your Firefox. If your looking for a nice little effect moving from one "Tabbed" window to another this has got to be it. I know, many are you are asking yourself "what the hell is tabbed browsing?". It's simple, many people when surfing the web only use the single Internet window when they surf. Other's like myself, use an option, left click your link and "open in new tab". This leaves use with our original window and a new open open up in a "tab". Anyway, check out it out, just click the picture above, it shows what happens when you click from one tab to the next. Jan 25, 07 "Firefox, better then..."

The confusion I hear from people asking me about using Firefox is this "Can I still use my Microsoft Internet Exporer", well the answear is yes. Firefox is a stand along Internet Broswer that you can use instead of IE6 or IE7. You do not need to remove these and infact I suggest you leave your current broswer alone.
Why use Firefox, well there are many reason's too. First off you can pick and choose how your Firefox looks when you use it through "Themes". Secondly you can choose from many add on's to assist in your online security through Firefox, NoScript , Adblocker, DOM Inpector to name a few. Perhaps the best reason to use Firefox is the ability to place it on a USB Flash Drive, leaving you with a fully functional Internet Brower that you can take with you to anyone's home. You don't need a laptop to now carry your entire web broswer, it's on a stick, plug it in at your friends and surf like you do at home.
Personally I've noticed a differance in which the speed of surfing has increased (use of FasterFox can increase this too) especially on text based websites. I suggest you take a look at FireFox, maybe even download it and give it a test drive. You never know, you may just like it.

Well you have got to love funny vid's online, todate there are more then you can shake a mouse at and they grow in number daily. From those I have seen in the past my two favorite ones have to be the Cat Vikings, sadly I can only find two vid's of them to post, not sure if there was anymore made. On the first link you can find that they even have stuffed toys to buy of the Cat Vikings, who wouldn't want one? lol
Off topic of vids, today I did infact get my Table and Chairs that I ordered earlier from Toscano, if your curous what those are, check my earlier blog on buying them. The two guys who delivered the furnitures where real champs about helping me get them into the house via the outdoor decking through the sliding glass door.

Well it had to happen and thank god it did, I now have Final Fantasy III for the DS and I'm now a happy gitty geek. lol
This game has been sold out since December here in Washington State and from what I've read online even in Japan it's caused a few problems. With there shortages on this sleeper hit fights have broken out in line and many stores have gone to a lottery system to sale what they do get. Thankfully that has not been the case here.
I could rattle on about how this is the first story line put out in Final Fantasy (I think) and how the graphics are updated, use of the touchscreen instead of just buttons alone, or even how the cut scenes are well done, but I won't. For your safetly today's lecture is on Firewalls for you PC. I know many of you use em and even pay for em, but do you understand how important it is for use one? Well they infrom the user of that PC what is going on, what programs are attempting to conect to the internet, where and when.

Now some people feel that anything that is free can not be as good when paid for. That is not always true, free food never tasted so good and free advice can often be worth much more then someone who goes around paying for it. Well I am hunting down the Final Fantasy games that I didn't buy when they first came out, due to the fact that I had yet gotten into the series or because I didn't have the gaming system at the time.
Today I ran across this new one for me, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for the Nintendo Gamecube. I've yet to play it for the main fact that I am still playing Final Fantasy XII for the PS2, lol
I'll let you guys know what I think about the game when I finally get to playing it, till then it's still FFXII sucking up my free time at home, solo free time that is. I'm sure those of you who know me are very much aware of what them means. :) For everyone else your guess is as good as mine, lol.

Feb 28, 07 Adding Old Thoughts to New Spots

Just like life when you start over again or use a new system you must learn everything over. This place is no different.
Yahoo 360 had there set ways, click here, do that, place picture here. MSN had it's easy to use interface with it's ability to change the whole layout of your blog space.
Now with Wetpaint it's time to figure out what can go here, how to link this and where does this go, even a few "What the hell just happened" has escaped so far. lol
Already I've changed how I will organize this new place and just where everything will be found. Hopefully it won't take to much longer to transfer everything (well most) of my stuff from the old site to here. Just like tech kitty up top, everyone is a newb at some point.

Well what I had here the first time around was lost by Gremlins in the PC, but don't worry as you can see from the picture I did bring in the pro's to get the job done.

Feb 18, 07 The Burning Crusade

Well to answer Joe's comment in my last blog, yes I have tried Burning Crusade for the World of Warcraft. I picked it up late Friday and put it in come Saturday morning. Here's what I have to say.
Burning Crusades brings in two new player races, Draenei for the Alliance and the Blood Elves for the Horde. Along with new hunting grounds, Flaying mounts for the Outlands and new Professions it's worth the 40 bucks.
Oh I could say a boat load more about the game but in the end you can read better bits on other websites about it, plenty of reviews out there.
So far I've made a Draenei Shaman like many other's have, along with choosing the Jewel Crafting skill. Of course the biggest improvement in the game is that all the high level characters out there are now gone from Stormwind and Ironforge, spending there time now in the Outlands. lol

Feb 05, 07 Put it to DVD

Well you gone and done it now. You've subscribed to download video's from a website and now your computer is loading up with, well video's you can't watch on your DVD player cause there the wrong format to play. Well now here's your solution.
VSO Software has been putting out a program called "ConvertXtoDVD". Simply put, you insert your DVD disc into your PC, turn on the VSO program, throw in some of those downloaded Video's, title the disc as you want, even add in back group picture, audio corrections, etc and then hit Convert. Depending on the speed of your PC and the settings you selected to convert the media will dictate how long it takes, but in the end you will have a DVD disc with your downloads on it that can now play on any machine.
No longer will you have to be stuck watching said movies on PC's or the few DVD players that can play your mpeg's.

In a country where the above picture is considered a terrorist, able to shut down bridges, freeways and entire city blocks, you have to ask yourself this. Who the FECK is in charge???
When those in charge (Police, Bomb Squad, Homeland Security and Mayor of Boston) Believe that a home made light bright is a bomb, exactly what kind of training are they receiving?
When "bomb like terrorist devices" as a homemade light bright made in the image of a Mooninite is mistaken as a bomb, after 2 fecking weeks of being up, who is really smoking the ganja?
As American citizens we have to be forever vigilant in who we put in charge, make sure you know what our leaders are doing and why they do it.
Don't buy into the bull that Guerrilla marketing is at fault, that they caused a terrorist bomb scare or they are guilty of disorderly conduct. The truth be told, those in charge, those who are to protect us screwed the pouch. Instead of admitting they totally screwed up and over reacted, they are attempting to blame an ad campaign instead. Suck up guys, you screwed up, what's next, perfume ads being chemical from terrorist's?
